In this video i show you how to build a simple wood box. making a diy storage boxes from construction grade plywood is fun, easy to do and in no time you can make a number of them.. You don't need complex joints to build a wooden box. simple box construction consists of uncomplicated design and materials such as plywood. plywood works best for larger boxes that are perfect for storage, toys, shipping or work-related duties.. While shopping at home depot, i spotted 1” x 4” x 3 1/4 ft. pine bed slats that were just $1.87 each and the idea popped into my head to make a diy wood box that i could use for a table centerpiece in any season..
Step 1: cut pieces for the box. i made my box a square so all sides are the same size. if you wanted, you could make it more of a rectangle and lengthen one side. totally up to you. but i cut a piece of 1×6 scrap at 5 ½” long (to make a square bottom piece) and four side pieces at 6 ¼” long like the picture below. step 2: assemble the box. Even though i used some fancy wood, this simple diy wooden jewelry box build is easy to make and a great way to get started in box making. you can do so many more things with boxes, like splines, hinges, trays, etc.. At some point we’re all going to need to build a wood box. whether it’s to keep a tool safe, or build a project enclosure, knowing how to make a box that’s a custom size really comes in handy. sure, you can fab one on a laser cutter, but i’m really starting to get tired of that burnt finger-jointed look..
