Hello, my house was built by the army in 1957 and has many quirks. one of the main quirks is that i have 1/4" thick fiberboard interior walls connected by a channel system. my question is two-fold. 1) i have removed a heater fan from a bath wall and intend on patching the 10" x 11" hole left behind.. There is a fiberboard product that was popular (maybe 1940s?) that i have heard called "beaverboard". i had it on walls of one bedroom in my house. i tore it all off as there's not much you can do with it. it burns real well in a bonfire, and i imagine in your house, too..

Wall control galvanizes the heavy duty pegboard steel to prevent it from rusting. wall control claims that its steel pegboard won’t warp, fray, crack or fail. and if it did fail, it wouldn’t let go of formaldehyde fibers. fiberboard is pretty much guaranteed to fray, and can certainly warp, crack or fail..
